2011 – 2013: International Test Commission (ITC) subcommittee convened to draft guidelines for the disposal of educational and psychological tests.

RESEARCH PROJECTS IN PROGRESS

1996 ongoing: Neuropsychological investigation into the cumulative effects of mild brain injury in Rugby Union, and other neuropathological conditions, initially in association with Neuropsychologist Professor Mark Lovell, Former Director of the Sports Medicine Concussion Programme at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, USA, and developer of the ImPACT computerized neurocognitive screening test; currently with the US software providers of SWAY Medical and CNS Vital Signs, Concussion Vital Signs.
1992 ongoing: The study of age and culturally relevant normative data on Wechsler IQ tests and commonly employed neuropsychological tests, in the South African context.

RESEARCH OUTPUTS AND CLINICAL PRACTICE

Supervision of multiple Honours and Clinical Masters theses in Psychology, many being awarded with distinction. Supervision to successful completion of five PhD theses on concussion in rugby at the school and professional levels.

Extensive publication in peer reviewed journals, and the presentation of multiple workshops and symposiums on sports concussion and cross-cultural assessment, nationally and internationally. Regular reviewing of manuscripts for peer reviewed journals in the above-mentioned research areas, and a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology, and the Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology.

Conducted a part-time medico-legal practice for the past 30 years, with a focus on MVA brain injury assessment for compensation purposes. Founder and co-director of a company trading from 2003 to 2020 as the National Sports Concussion Initiative (NSCI), and currently as Brain Evaluation Solutions and Testing (BEST), that promotes state-of-the-art mobile and computerized applications for neuro-screening in sports, clinical, occupational and research settings (www.bestbrainsolutions.com).
